Saga Tenix and Vy Buss Enter Agreement on Charging Systems for Electric Buses

Saga Tenix and Vy Buss have entered into a framework agreement for the delivery of smart charging systems for buses. This system ensures optimal planning and operational reliability for Vy’s electric buses in Norway and Sweden.

“An increasing proportion of our buses are electric. Electric buses require new tools and routines, which is why we have chosen to purchase a charging management system from Tenix. We look forward to starting and ensuring the best possible charging of our electric buses so that we can continue to transport passengers in an environmentally friendly manner,” says Vidar Hauan, Director of Operations and Development at Vy Buss.

The agreement involves Saga Tenix supplying the Tenix Charge system to all charging depots where Vy Buss operates electric buses in route or commercial traffic. Vy currently has approximately 350 electric buses, but expects a larger portion of its total fleet of 3,300 buses to be electric in the coming years.

Tenix Charge is integrated with the route planning system, chargers, and Nordpool to ensure the correct power level for each bus for the next day’s route. Additionally, artificial intelligence is used to optimize charging in relation to time, traffic, temperature, and topology. The charging system increases operational reliability and improves efficiency for an electric bus fleet.

“We greatly appreciate that Vy Buss has chosen Tenix Charge as their charging management system. Vy Buss has made significant progress in the green transition, and we look forward to working with them on the transition to an all-electric bus fleet. A key factor here is safe and efficient operations, ensuring a positive experience for passengers,” says Torbjørn G. Krøvel, CEO of Saga Tenix.

The agreement spans three years, with the option for extension, and is valued at up to 10 million kroner. Initially, Tenix Charge will be used for approximately 70 buses at Vy Buss in the Drammen area, with rollout planned throughout 2024.
