New charging management platform will support GöVB’s growing electric fleet, while marking Tenix’s entry into the German market
Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe (GöVB) is taking another step in the electrification of its bus operation with a new five-year agreement with Tenix. GöVB will use Tenix Charge to manage charging for its electric buses, starting with 40 vehicles in 2027 and scaling to its full fleet of 102 as electrification progresses.
For GöVB, the focus is on making its existing charging infrastructure work effectively as the electric bus operation grows. Charging infrastructure is already installed across its depot, including standard and duo canopies as well as mobile chargers. Tenix Charge can connect directly to this existing setup, allowing GöVB to introduce the platform without investing in new charging hardware.
“As we continue to electrify our bus operation, it is important that the systems supporting it can grow with us. We wanted a solution that works with the infrastructure we already have, while giving us better control and insight into charging as the fleet expands. Tenix Charge gives us that foundation for the next stage of our electrification journey,” says Michael Neugebauer, CEO, Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH.
Building an electric bus operation that can grow
As the number of electric buses increases, charging becomes an increasingly important part of daily fleet operations. GöVB’s new setup is intended to provide a common platform for monitoring and controlling charging infrastructure while supporting the operational requirements of a growing electric fleet.
Tenix Charge meets GöVB’s VDV 463 and VDV 261 interface requirements, while charging infrastructure is monitored and controlled via OCPP in line with the requirements of the tender.
The partnership also brings local implementation expertise through Peak Mobility GmbH (formerly PSI Transcom GmbH), which is supporting Tenix with implementation in Germany.
For Tenix, the agreement marks a significant milestone: its entry into the German market and another step in an accelerating European expansion. The company has built its charging management expertise through some of the largest and most demanding electric bus programmes in the Nordic region and is now bringing that experience to operators in new European markets. The GöVB agreement follows Tenix’s market entry into Belgium with LETEC just a few weeks earlier, and adds to a growing series of contract wins across Northern Europe. With this agreement, Tenix continues to build its position as a leading European provider of electric fleet management solutions.
“GöVB is exactly the kind of operator we want to support as public transport moves from individual electrification projects towards larger, more integrated electric fleets. Their plans are ambitious, and the solution needs to grow with them,” says Torbjørn G. Krøvel, CEO of Tenix.
“Germany is an important market for us, and we are proud that our first German customer is an operator with a clear long-term electrification programme. We bring experience from some of the most demanding electric bus operations in the Nordics, but the starting point is always the operator’s own needs and infrastructure”.
The agreement runs for a minimum of five years, with the licensed fleet size scaling automatically as GöVB’s electrification programme advances.
About Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe
Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH, known as GöVB, is the mobility service provider for the city of Göttingen. As a municipal subsidiary, GöVB provides reliable and environmentally friendly mobility across the city and the neighbouring municipalities of Rosdorf and Bovenden, with around 480 employees and a modern bus fleet.
The company carries around 16 million passengers annually across a 275-kilometre route network with 21 day routes and ten night routes. GöVB is in the process of transforming toward sustainable mobility: by the end of the year, half of its roughly 100 buses will be electric or partially electric. Charging infrastructure at its depot is being continuously expanded and optimised, and a new electric bus depot is currently in planning, with construction due to begin in 2029 and commissioning expected in 2031.
